Region 6 Events |
Unfortunately, attendance at our IPA
evens has consistently the past decade. So much so that the Regional
Committee has decided to cancel the annual picnic. For the few who show,
the cost is just too high. Especially in view of the fact that our
former fund raiser dried up a few years ago and we really need to watch
our expenditures.
We would like to hear from our
members if you have any suggestions for events we can hold that
might interest the members. While the reasons for non-participation
are many, there might be some ideas out there that we have not
thought of yet. Contact our 3rd Vice-president Steve Salandez for
any suggestions you may have. |

We are looking for IPA members in the region that would like to serve as a Departmental Representative for visitors to the area. As a Representative for your department, you would help coordinate IPA visitors who are looking to go on a ride-along, meet with members of your department to exchange information on policing techniques, or arrange for interaction with specialized units, such as aero, SWAT, etc. Contact Ed Henneberque if you are interested in serving as this contact between your agency and our IPA visitors. |
Partnership with College of Saint Elizabeth |
IPA US recently developed an agreement with the College of Saint Elizabeth to provide online course work for IPA members at a 20% discount. If the member is a working officer his discount increases to 25%. This opportunity was the work of US Treasurer Kevin Gordon and Dr. Jim Ford, the Coordinator of Study for the M.A. program in Justice Administration and Public Service. Dr. Ford is a retired police officer and a member of IPA- USA Region 10 in New Jersey. For more info visit the College of Saint Elizabeth or contact Jim. |
Police Hotel Discounts In Canada |
IPA members may receive a "special discount" at any of 4 Canadian Best Western Hotels in Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, and Vancouver by visiting the web site. This discount program was created by a retired Vancouver PD police sergeant now working for this group of hotels. |
IPA Now on Facebook |
The IPA US has a new face book page. Just visit Facebook and do a search for International Police Association. There are 3 groups, ours is the United States Section. The International also has a site. Region 6 members are invited to join the IPA facebook page. Any nonmember IPA police officer is also invited to join. |
